Hazel Hill Chocolate Traditions

Project: Marketing

Owners, Nick and Terry Xidis, invest their hearts and hands in fine chocolate and confectionery. Hazel Hill, Terry’s grandmother, is a symbol of their dedication to a family tradition of “the best in everything they do.” Nick is the third generation chocolatier and in keeping with traditions, they use only the finest ingredients, chocolate, fresh cream and butter, to produce handmade treats that explode with flavor. Made the old fashioned way, in small batches, by hand, you’ll taste the craftsmanship in every bite. Hazel Hill is looking for one YE alumnus who is interested in developing marketing material to include posters and flyers and possible social media. The selected student will first shadow the owner/ manager to better understand what makes Hazel Hill special, and a few afternoons developing the marketing material to present the products to the owner for approval.

  • Time Commitment: 5 days shadowing. 9:30 AM -1:30 PM

JNT Company

Project: Marketing, Sales, PR, Computer Design or Web Developement

JNT believes internships should be the first stepping stone in a bright and successful career. For this reason, we’ve created an exciting and challenging internship, Empower! JNT Company is looking for creative students in Marketing, Sales, PR, Computer Design, and Web Development. Interns will be working in groups with real Clients throughout the Manhattan area to create Design & Marketing products/Strategies. Our internship program reflects all the things that are important at JNT: teamwork, deadlines and most importantly, creativity. Empower provides students with a chance to gain real world experience in a dynamic and supportive environment over Summer ‘17.  JNT will take on up to five YE students for this partnership.

  • Time Commitment: There will be 2 main in person commitments. The rest of your time and meetings will be done online.
  • Date: Start Date: May 22 / 4-5 weeks
  • Potential YE Academy Points Possible: 150 with the opportunity to earn more

KTWU

Project: Broadcast Journalism

KTWU is a non-commercial educational television station licensed to Washburn University of Topeka.  KTWU serves 34 counties in Kansas, 12 counties in northwest Missouri and one county in northeast Oklahoma.  KTWU broadcasts three streams of content, 24 hours, 7-days each week.  KTWU is involved with producing high quality, local, regional, national and international video content.  KTWU is the most EMMY award-winning station in northeast Kansas with a 52-year history of providing broadcast, educational and new media services.

Up to two YE alumni will be invited to experience each department with a tour and an activity. Departments include: Administration, Development & Fundraising, Programming/Content/Social Media, Production, Engineering, Promotion, and Traffic.

  • Time Commitment: One full day (8 hrs.)
  • Date: June – July (flexible)
  • Potential YE Academy Points Possible: 35

Project: Marketing and Social Media

Up to two YE alumni will be invited to work on marketing and social media strategies to help bring individuals to Key Staffing. Presentations will be made weekly for approval.

  • Time Commitment: 16 hours a week for 4-6 weeks
  • Date: June – July (flexible)
  • Potential YE Academy Points Possible: none; this is a paid internship

Dynamic Computer Solutions of Topeka, INC.

Project: Web Design and/or Social media

Dynamic Computer Solutions delivers proactive maintenance services through their flat-rate IT Support Service. They are designed to reduce their clients cost of business, increase their profits and mitigate their business risk. Dynamic Computer Solutions is looking for one YE alumnus who is interested in web design and /or social media.

  • Time Commitment: 15 hours a week for 2 weeks.
  • Date: June, exact dates are flexible
